Now that UFC superstar and previously undefeated women's bantamweight champ, Ronda Rousey, has lost her first MMA fight and with it the UFC belt, the world as we know it has been forever changed. Up is down, down is up, and my head is absolutely spinning. This life-changing event has made me question everything I thought I knew.
The existence of a higher power has been debated by the world's most brilliant minds since the beginning of time and now that Ronda Rousey has lost a fight, it's undeniable proof that there is no God. How could we live in a world where an all-powerful and loving God would allow something like this to happen? It's simply not possible.
It was a well known and proven fact that Olympic bronze medalist, Ronda Rousey was simply unbeatable inside the Octagon. But if that's no longer true, then what other "universal laws" are up for debate? Does gravity even still work? I'm honestly not sure right now.
Up until now I've always believed that Starbucks' coffee was delicious and of high quality. Now I'm beginning to wonder if it's actually overpriced, over-roasted swill that we've all been duped into believing is the gold standard in coffee. I'm also now questioning the quality of their mix CD's. I just don't know anymore.
The concept of parallel universes has never been believable to me up to this point, but now it all makes perfect sense. It's the only feasible explanation as to why pound-for-pound the greatest female fighter in the world, Ronda Rousey, isn't currently holding her UFC belt. Perhaps the moment Rousey entered the Octagon on November 14th and faced challenger, Holly Holm, the world split into two parallel timelines. In one world Ronda takes her down, secures the armbar and finishes the fight within seconds, adding yet another victory to her illustrious career. In another absurd alternate universe, Rousey is actually susceptible to defeat and nothing at all makes sense. We are in fact now living in that world.
When bad things happen we look to our leadership for guidance and answers. The world's most dangerous woman, Ronda Rousey, just lost a fight and I simply want to know how on earth this was able to happen? If there is a better fighter than Ronda, is it possible that there is a greater form of government than democracy? Was it ever the greatest to begin with? Do our opinions and votes even matter? When Rousey was 12-0 it all seemed so clear, but now that she is 12-1, All of a sudden I'm not convinced we wouldn't be better off under the tyrannical rule of an ironfisted overlord.
I've always been confident in the old adage that dogs are man's best friend, but now that Ronda Rousey has tasted defeat in an impossible upset loss, I'm beginning to wonder if it's all a sham. Maybe dogs just like us because we let them sleep in our nice warm houses and provide them with an endless supply of kibbles, treats, and tennis balls? Things are just a little touch and go right now.
The great Franklin Delano Roosevelt spoke these timeless words in his inaugural address in 1933 and now I'm able to see that it's lies. It's all lies. The Queen of women's MMA has lost her crown and it's a different age that we are now living in. There is a lot more to fear than just fearing fear my friends. There is plenty to fear in this new world; things like spiders, sharks, commuter train crashes, and most of all, new UFC women's bantamweight champ Holly Holm. She looks unbeatable, and that's a constant that will never change!
