For most of the year, Scott Diethorne is a truck driver, father of 9, and grandfather of 10, soon to be 11. But from November to Christmas Eve, he becomes Santa Scott. Santa Scott has played Santa at various malls around Buck County, Pennsylvania, as well as fundraisers, breakfasts, and even photo shoots. Scott loves to be Santa.
This year, however, he has come under attack.
This is because Santa Scott is not like other Santa Clauses...
The Oxford Valley Mall, where Scott currently performs, decided this year that they needed to have him tone it down. Cherry Hill Programs, the company that runs the mall, released a statement. They said there reason was because they are "dedicated to preserving the tradition and image of Santa.”
Santa Scott himself has not spoken up, as he doesn't want to jeopardize his beloved role. His fans, however, have organized an event on Friday, December 15, where everyone can get "uncensored" pics with their favorite Santa. The Facebook event can be seen here.
