Imma let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the cutest relationships with Jay Z of all time. They've been one of our favorite couples since they started dating in the early 2000s. They were married in 2008, and have had three children since then, in case you hadn't heard - Blue Ivy, Rumi and Sir.
They truly were an '03 Bonnie and Clyde. We've seen them grow into one of music's top power couples. And honestly, we can't get enough of the two. We love watching them watch basketball. We love following on Instagram. And most of all, we love how much they love each other.
But there have been a lot of infidelity rumors swirling around Jay Z and Beyonce. And when Beyonce's sister, Solange, went off on Jay Z in an elevator after the Met Gala, it only added fuel to the fire. It's like Beyonce says, stuff goes down when there's a billion dollars in an elevator.
When Beyonce came out with her album masterpiece Lemonade, they didn't exactly die down. In fact, they got worse. Beyonce swinging a baseball bat clad all in yellow singing, "They don't love you like I love you," was pretty much considered evidence that Jay Z had cheated. Everyone wanted to know the identity of "Becky with the good hair."
Jay Z also addressed the issue on his album 4:44. The album was seen as a response to Lemonade. In case you're not one of the two people who has Tidal, he raps lyrics like, "Look, I apologize, often womanize." Do we need any more evidence??
In a recent New York Times interview, Jay Z opened up about his infidelities. Jay Z was real, open and completely candid about the hurt that he caused by running around. He, however, did not answer that age-old mystery, "How on Earth could someone cheat on Beyonce?????" Seriously. She's Beyonce!!
Jay Z said that he was shut down emotionally, which lead to him straying. "You have to survive. So you go into survival mode and when you go into survival mode, what happens? You shut down all emotions," he said.
"So, even with women, you gonna shut down emotionally, so you can't connect. In my case, like, it's deep. And then all the things that happen from there: infidelity," Jay Z continued to tell the New York Times. In other words, he has a hard time feeling what it feels like to feel feelings.
Although Jay Z proclaims to have a hard heart, he admitted he was well aware of the hurt his actions were causing. "Most people walk away. Divorce rate is like 50% or something, because most people can't see themselves," said Jay Z, who did not walk away - from Beyonce or from us.
"The hardest thing is seeing pain on someone's face that you caused, and then you have to deal with yourself. Most people don't want to do that," Jay Z said of how he felt about the damage his cheating caused. He did, however, deal with it himself.
"You don't want to look inside yourself, and so you walk away," continued Jay Z. But he didn't walk away. Man, if he had walked away from Beyonce, he would have had to see the look on her face, the look on their kids' faces, and the look on literally all of America's face.
Not to make Jay Z's infidelity about us, but it really affected us a lot. We've been wondering why Jay Z and Beyonce would sing about Jay Z's infidelities on their albums? Were they airing their dirty laundry through music? Or were they just creating some clever narrative to sell albums? Well, you can sleep tight at night, because Jay Z addresses that too.
Jay Z said that addressing their issues through music was therapeutic for them. As part of the healing process, they created a secret album together that has never been released and nobody has heard. Why? Because they put it up on Tidal.
"We were using our art almost like a therapy session. And we started making music together. And then the music she was making at that time was further along. So her album came out as opposed to the joint album that we were working on. It was uncomfortable," said Jay Z.
Having your wife release an album that's all about you cheating on her is uncomfortable? Weird. We don't see that at all...Definitely never cheat at all, obviously. But it might make it even worse, if possible, if your wife is a mega-star who can release lots of songs about you.
"But I was really proud of the music she made, and she was really proud of the art I released. At the end of the day we really have a healthy respect for one another's craft. I think she's amazing," said Jay Z. It's nice to know that Jay Z is a supportive husband! You know, aside from all the cheating stuff.
Jay Z went on to tell about how he felt about the whole situation. "But the best place in the, you know, hurricane is, like, in the middle of it," he said. Essentially, he felt like this whole thing was a hurricane. Which we agree with.
Okay, we'll accept his apology. We want to know if Solange has accepted his apology though. This whole thing has been super hard for us, the fans, who have been following this story more closely than a soap opera plot line.
