When you go to a costume party, you expect to see people dressed like this. You'll probably see people dressed as superheroes or other iconic characters. Nothing earth-shattering, but fun nevertheless.
On Twitter, Australian writer Clementine Ford said she went to a "The Internet"-themed party. And for the occasion, her friend Amy thought about what "The Internet" means to her. Then she came up with the perfect costume.
To represent The Internet, Amy dressed up as an unsolicited dick pick. Not only did she dress up as the actual body party, but she completed the costume with an instant message exchange to go with it. It's clearly something she (and many other women) have experienced many times.
Clementime tweeted a picture of Amy's costume, and it definitely caught people's eyes. She manage to take something intrusive, and turn it into a joke. And that's why the picture got so many positive responses.
Another detail Amy paid close attention to was the text included in the message she was wearing. Take a closer look at the photo if the text seemed to small. It's a quick snapshot on how some guys just don't seem to get when their advances are unwanted.
We're guessing that Amy was an actual invited guest at this party. However, it may have been more appropriate if she had crashed the party instead. If she wants to really drive the point home, perhaps she could start going around in this costume to random parties who do not welcome her presence.
Another person responded to the "Get a life" comment with this theory. Perhaps he was so angry about the costume because it's something he's guilty of himself. Perhaps there's something that guys can start sending that's more appropriate than pictures of their junk.
Now here's a Dick pic that's much more appropriate to send to people. If you received a picture of Dick Van Dyke, chances are you'd be happy to see it. However, you still shouldn't send it if it's not solicited.
But until pictures of Dick Van Dyke are the only Dick pics sent without warning, then there's still a problem. So let's salute Amy and her costume for calling out people who just don't seem to have a clue.
