New Zealand is a land of unparalleled beauty. With landscapes such as these, it's no wonder it was the shooting location for The Lord Of The Rings films. You can even go on Lord Of The Ring tours here.
Photographer Akhil Suhas is skilled at capturing the gorgeous landscapes of New Zealand, as you can see. He feels lucky to be able to live, work and travel in such a rich environment. But it's the way he's traveling across the land that has captured a lot of attention.
That's right, he's taking Lord Of The Ring tours to the next level and traveling across New Zealand dressed as Gandalf. When in Rome, do as the Romans do. And when in the site of Middle-earth, dress like a wizard.
Can you blame him? I took a million pictures when I visited Oklahoma. Suhas is in freaking Middle-earth, dressed as one of the best characters. We should all be happy to witness this dream as we live vicariously through him.
It's hard to think of anything more magical AF than this (besides maybe this 100 year-old theater converted into a bookstore). It also illustrates the diversity of New Zealand's landscapes. The beaches, the mountains and even the deserts. There's no shortage of fantasies to live through.
These images can be used as the cover of a million different fan fictions. Here we can imagine a tale of Gandalf waiting for a sea creature to return. They clashed in the past, but must form an uneasy alliance to help topple a larger threat.
Here we can imagine the climax of that tale, where all seems lost and the sea creature returns to his now desolate home. Of course, Gandalf is able to talk him into giving it another try. And in the end, they triumph.
I'm no longer sure if these are actual pictures of Suhas traveling in New Zealand. I'm starting to suspect these are all just computer desktop background images he's Photoshopping himself into. How can any place be this perfect?
I've made up my mind. I'm going to travel around New Zealand dressed as a Lord Of The Rings character as well. I'd like to say as Legolas, but realistically, I'd have an easier time pulling off an orc costume.
