McDonald's has been serving burgers since what seems like the beginning of time. When you think fast food, McDonald's is probably the first place most people think of. It appears that the Golden Arches will stay standing for a long, long time.
While McDonald's has been around for decades upon decades, they're not afraid to try new things. Last year, McDonald's announced they'd be implementing self-serve kiosks at their restaurants. And along with that, some McDonald's also have table service for your order.
A teenage Twitter user by the name of Arikuyo learned some of the quirks of the kiosk during a recent trip to a McDonald's in England. Arikuyo was in the mood for a cheeseburger, but didn't want pickles. And thanks to the kiosk, that was not a problem.
Upon finding out that you can tell the kiosk you can hold the pickles, Arikuyo learned you can also have them hold any other part of the burger. So Arikuyo also held the ketchup, mustard, onions, cheese, bun and patty. In other words, Arikuyo ordered absolutely nothing, just to see what would happen.
Finding the whole ordeal pretty hilarious, Arikuyo posted a tweet saying, "I just spent 99p for nothing from McDonald's." The tweet also included all the photographic evidence proving that this all really happened. And the rest of Twitter found it just as amusing as Arikuyo did.
Arikuyo's tweet of the incident lit of Twitter, earning over 56,000 retweets and over 132,000 likes. For some reason, the tweet has since been deleted. However, there are still plenty of replies to the tweet who think the nothing burger is full of McDonald's magic.
Arikuyo didn't get to eat the burger, but did get to enjoy having a tweet go viral. So perhaps that's a fair trade off. Especially if McDonald's will start letting you pay for a burger using Twitter likes.
