If you've spent any amount of time on Instagram or Facebook, you've probably noticed that tons of people have amazing photos. Everyone looks great, and are photographed from interesting angles. How is this happening?
The Boyfriends of Instagram account shows photos of other people taking photos. It's mostly pictures of guys who appear to be taking photos of their significant others. The result is photos that give you a peak behind the perfection.
Or what about this picture? His girlfriend and her friends get to have a fun time in a pool, while he's stuck on camera duty. Plus he has to be able to take the picture without accidentally dropping the phone in the pool.
The creators of the account said they wish to remain anonymous. They told The Daily Dot that they thought the Boyfriends of Instagram concept was something that would only be funny to them. But instead, its popularity is spreading.
In January 2016, they also launched a Boyfriends of Instagram Facebook page. After a couple months, they stopped posting on Instagram for a while and only focused on Facebook. But that was only by accident.
The account's founders said that at one point, they couldn't remember their Instagram password. They were completely locked out. (Editor's note: Don't judge. It's happened to the best of us.) That's when they decided to focus just on Facebook.
However, in February 2017, the guys started posting to the Instagram account once again. After being away for almost a year, Boyfriends of Instagram was back up and running. Order in the world has once again been restored.
The guys many of their photos sent to them as submissions. They said they get between 20 and 50 submissions each day. If you've got a photo you think would fit, you can send them a message on Facebook.
While most of the photos appear to be guys taking pictures for their girlfriends, it's not always the case. Boyfriends of Instagram can feature anyone taking a picture of anyone (or anything) else. As long as someone is making an uncomfortable effort to take a pic, it's worthy.
So the next time you see a perfect Instagram photo, remember that there may have been someone getting into an uncomfortable position in order to make that happen. And if you want to see more, check out Boyfriends of Instagram on both Instagram and Facebook.
