Bill Paxton played Brock Lovett, the treasure hunter that was after that uber-expensive sapphire and diamond necklace. We all know what happened to that necklace at the end of the movie. The older Rose (played by Gloria Stuart) threw that sucker right in the sea.
Sadly, Bill Paxton passed away at the age of 61 in February of this year from complications following surgery. He acted in many of James Cameron’s films, including Terminator, Aliens, True Lies, Apollo 13 and Twister.
Kate Winslet played Rose DeWitt Bukater, a.k.a Rose Dawson, in the film. She was a depressed and suicidal rich girl, until she met the scrappy Jack Dawson. Some might call her character a bit selfish because there was totally room on that door!
Kate Winslet has not shied away from the limelight since Titanic. The natural beauty’s career catapulted since the film. She even acted with Leo again in the 2008 film Revolutionary Road. Though, she has admitted that she is haunted by that nude portrait from the movie.
Leonardo DiCaprio played the adorable Jack Dawson. Just look at how fresh-faced he was (before he started morphing into Jack Nicholson)! Well, we were all really bummed about his tragic end in the movie. [Editor's note: Hey!! Spoilers!!]
Leo is among one of the best-known actors (and eco-warriors) of our time. He recently won his first Oscar for The Revenant. He and Kate have remained great friends since the movie, and she had the most adorable reaction to his Oscar win.
Alexandrea Owens played Cora Cartmell, the cute little girl who had a major crush on Jack Dawson. They had a scene where they danced together at that super fun-looking party in the lower decks of the ship. She didn’t make it at the end.
Alexandrea Owens has a total baby face because she totally looks like little Cora. She’s pretty much stayed out of the spotlight, but she has had some minor roles in some independent shorts. Apparently, Lindsey Lohan was up for the role of Cora but James Cameron thought that she looked too similar to Rose.
Kathy Bates acting career didn’t die down after Titanic. Over the last three years, the talented actress has been busy with the whole American Horror Story series. In the show, she played a range of disturbing characters.
Victor Garber played Thomas Andrews. Thomas Andrews was the actual ship builder of the Titanic. The real Mr. Andrews was credited for saving many lives during the sinking. The naval architect went down with his ship.
Victor Garber narrated the documentary Beyond Titanic a year after the film’s release. Since Titanic, Victor has remained busy. He’s appeared in Argo and Sicario. You also may remember him from Legally Blonde.
Jonathan Hyde played J. Bruce Ismay in the film. Ismay was the managing director of the ship. In the film, he was portrayed as a selfish d**k. In 2012, the great-grandson of Ismay said that his great-grandfather “wasn’t the man portrayed.”
Hyde is mostly known for the films he did in the ‘90s, which included Jumanji and The Mummy. The Australian actor is still working though. Most recently, he has had a significant role in the show The Strain.
Suzy Amis played Lizzy Calvert in the film. Calvert was Rose’s granddaughter, and she accompanied the old woman onto Brock Lovett’s ship. Her role was minor, but out of all the actors in the film she left the biggest impression on James Cameron.
The real romance happened behind the scenes of the movie. Suzy Amis and James Cameron met on the set of Titanic and married in 2000. Amis and Cameron are still married and have three children together.
