As things go in this day and age, this story went viral because of a tweet. Twitter user @vickto_willy found this beast of a man on the internet and compared his likeness to a tree. The tweet was liked over 49,000 times … and now we have tree man.
Then @vickto_willy did some more digging and found this guy’s Instagram account. Turns out that this tree actually has a name, and it’s Danny Jones. He’s a 31-year-old personal trainer and he stands at a colossal 6’7’’. He already had a pretty big following on Instagram before the tweet went viral. Now he’s gained nearly 200,000 new followers since the tweet.
He likes to post a lot of pictures of him standing in doorways to demonstrate his prodigious height. “Making doorways look small since ’09,” he wrote. He also posts pictures of himself changing lightbulbs in the ceiling without the help of a stool. Yeah, he’s tall.
Well, naturally people were very turned on by him and started replying to the original tweet with some funny gifs, like the tree-kissing scene from Superstar. Oh, and that picture of a hamster eating a banana … you know, cause people wondered how big his d**k is.
But, he won’t let us see it. When he posts pictures of himself in his boxers he covers up his crotch with emojis … totally not fair. He actually got a bit snarky with people asking about his junk. “And before I get any comments asking to post without the emoji, my page is #dannyjonesfitness not #dannyjonesdickness,” he captioned this photo.
In reality, a lot of his pictures show off his height. He literally is squeezing himself into this airplane bathroom. God, his legs must be crushed if he is flying coach. He also probably can’t fit into a lot of other things, like foreign sports cars probably.
But the majority of his photos show off his fitness. He was not always the muscular fit giant we see today. Well, he was still a giant back then, but not as sexy. He posts a lot about his fitness journey and his diet. He also shares a lot of videos of him working out at the gym.
So, how has tree man been dealing with his new found celebrity status?
“So, the last 24 hours has been absolutely crazy. I went to bed the night before last just like any other but woke up to 8k new Instagram followers. I thought it was a glitch in the system,” he told The Daily Mail. “I already had a fairly large following, but that rate of growth was unheard of. I had NO idea where all these people came from.”
He also says that he doesn’t mind the whole tree man thing too much. “Then, I started getting tons of ‘tree’ comments, haha. I was so confused. Finally through talking to someone in my DMs, I was linked to the [Buzzfeed] article. The Tree Man was born. It’s been super fun and hilarious to see all the memes, articles and comments this is getting,” he told The Daily Mail.
Tree man was even nice enough to thank @vikto_willy for making him go viral. She was feeling a little left out after her tweet blew up. So, it was nice of him to acknowledge her role in making him a huge Internet sensation (emphasis on huge).
