Oh look, it's the poster for the classic 2004 romance movie The Notebook! Except the guy on the left doesn't really look like Ryan Gosling. And the last time we checked, Rachel McAdams isn't a cat. What's going on here?
And here's an image from 2012 epic film Life Of Pi. It's the story of a young boy surviving a disaster at sea, along with a tiger. In this case, tiny, adorable tiger that you could cuddle in your arms. Something here isn't right.
The photos are the work of Dave and Sarah, a couple from the UK. Together, they take their cats Willow and Tara and recreate famous scenes from movies. Then they put them on Instagram under the name Movie Cats.
Looks like this cat had a bit too much of all work and no play. If your cat ever gets this way, try giving it a ball of yarn or a toy mouse. Otherwise, it might end up bursting through doors while trying to kill you.
Dave and Sarah wound up starting a second Instagram page, Casual Movie Cats. It includes a behind-the-scenes look at how they make their photos. Looks like it took a while for the can to get into character as James Bond.
Dave and Sarah said they didn't initially make the photos with Instagram in mind. "We host a pub quiz every few weeks," the couple told Love Meow. "We started doing it for the film/TV round, and we enjoyed it so much we decided to keep doing it as a regular quiz question."
How do the cats feel about being placed in these odd scenarios? "The cats clearly think we're weird," the couple said, "but they get loads of treats doing it which tends to be their main focus." So it looks like all that weirdness is worth it.
