Skydiving? Running with the bulls in Pamplona? Having wild crazy sex with Mathew McConaughey? Well, those are a few things on my bucket list. Unfortunately, the latter will never happen. But a girl can dream, can’t she?
The following is a story about a very peculiar bucket list dream and the little old lady who really wanted it to happen.
When one thinks of a little old grandma, what kind of things to you expect her to be doing? Knitting? Baking? Perhaps asleep in her rocking chair after watching yet another episode of Detective Poirot (my grandma loves that stuff)?
Well, some grandma’s want to experience something a bit edgier.
Prison is the last place I would want to see my dear, sweet grandmother. She wouldn’t last a second in the joint. She can barely walk through Whole Foods without getting anxious. Imagine all the fighting, constant yelling and swearing…it’s just too much for a grandma.
But not for the grandma we are about to introduce. She actually WANTED to get arrested and go to jail.
This sweetheart’s name is Annie, she is a 99-year-old Dutch woman. Nearing the end of her life, one thing she really wanted to do and never had done was to be arrested and put in a jail cell. Look at that adorable little face. She is having the time of her life.
The whole thing was made possible with the help of her niece. She had told her niece that it was something that she really wanted to do. So the niece called the police in Nijmegen-Zuid and explained to them that one of her aunts final requests was to be arrested.
The police were more than happy to oblige Annie’s bizarre request. They even drove to her house, put her in the back of the car, and threw her in the slammer. Well, they didn’t actually throw her. You can’t throw old ladies.
The Politie Nijmegen-Zuid took Annie to their station (pictured above) and seemed to get as much of a kick out of it as Annie did.
“We don’t usually do this, but we made an exception for Annie,” a police spokesperson told Buzzfeed News. “It was just a couple of minutes in the cell. It was all about the experience. We don’t know why it was on her bucket list.”
Annie had a blast at the station. Peter Smit, a lieutenant at the station said that she particularly liked being cuffed.
“In her life she never committed any crime, and thought it would be exciting to experience. As you can see in the picture from our post, she found it hilarious to be in the inside with the handcuffs,” he told The Independent.
Jason Gordon, 23, was diagnosed with terminal cancer in 2015. One of the things he wanted most in the world was to be able to drive an exotic car. Thanks to Richie Hughes, the owner of VIP Exotic Car Rentals in Toronto, Jason’s dream came true. Jason and his twin brother were given a $300,000 Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder to cruise around Toronto with all day, totally free of charge. The usual price tag is $1,400 per day.
I’m crying as I write this. This was 15-year-old doggy Poh. When Poh was given a terminal diagnosis his amazing owners took him on a trip all over the United States, visiting about 35 different cities. They traveled from the East Coast (NYC) to the West Coast and stopped lots of places in between. Poh passed away in February of last year.
