You might think that you and your BFF have a friendship for the ages, but you definitely can't hold a torch to these two adorable ladies. Jane (left) and Lil have been friends since they met as neighbors in 1945. That's right — Jane and Lil have been BFFs for 71 years! Can you say friendship goals?
Jane and Lil’s epic best-friendship went viral when Lil’s great granddaughter, Kamari Copeland, posted a video of the BFFs on Twitter. In the video, Copeland’s mother compliments the ladies on their good looks, and Jane replies, “We know, we can’t help it!”
So. Stinking. Adorable.
Jane may be 102 and Lil may be almost 100, but I've never wanted to join any #squad more.
Copeland's social media posts about her great grandma prove one thing – Lil is way hip. I mean, she keeps her nails fresh AND knows how to use a MacBook. With that young-at-heart attitude, Lil just might make it to 150, which means that she and Jane may have 50 more years of legendary friendship ahead of them.
Have any doubts about how cool G'ma Lil is? Then take a look at this photo Kamari Copeland tweeted of Lil, with the caption: "My 99 year old great grandma is here for the winter & she’s reading about @chancetherapper in the paper."
Lil knows all about Chance the Rapper, guys. So I'm not even ashamed to admit it – Lil is way cooler than I am.
Gladys Butler, Ruth Hammett and Bernice Underwood celebrated the big 1-0-0 together with friends and family. Sadly, the trio was once a quartet, but their fourth BFF didn’t make it to her 100th birthday. Still, other squads should take notice; these friends clearly know how to stick by each other through thick and thin.
By now, we all know that stress can kill us. Fortunately, spending time with our BFFs can significant reduce our stress levels, thus friendship can actually help prevent stress-related diseases. You know what they say, "Hanging with friends every day keeps the doctor away." (Editor's note: No one says that, but they should.)
And no, this doesn't include "liking" your friends' photos on Facebook or Instagram or sending them Snapchats. Carve out some time for in-person friendship, and then maybe you and your friends will be considered #friendshipgoals in 50 years.
So if you want a shot at competing with some of these epic female friendships one day, you better start now. If not for your health or for #squadgoals, hang out with your friends simply because it's fun.
