There are a lot of differences between real and fake people. And no, it's not that fake people are made of plastic. They're made out of skin and bones, just like anyone else. But there are some things that they say and do that a real person would never even dream of. Here's how to tell the difference between a real person and a fake person.
Do you feel less important than dirt after talking to a fake person? That's because they can be pretty condescending people. They must be super fun to hang around with at parties! Just kidding. The opposite of that is true.
Real people are considerate of others. They're not going to keep you waiting for 20 minutes after you planned to meet up. And if they do, they're going to have a legitimate reason for it and a heartfelt apology. Real people care about other people, and they're going to act like it.
Real people will do the right thing because it's the right thing to do. They won't demand the building of a shrine dedicated to their good deeds. The anonymous donor at a museum? Probably a real person. The anonymous donor at a museum who goes around bragging to everyone that they gave a ton of money? Probably not a real person.
There's nothing worse than someone who's full of themselves. Because when you're full of yourself, there's no more room for anyone else. There's a difference between being self-confident and self-absorbed, and fake people lean towards the latter. Fake people think their poop doesn't stink, even if it smells like it's toxic.
If fake people are selfish, real people are selfless. Compassionate and considerate, real people will think of the feelings of everyone else around them. And the best part about it? They're not going to be a jerk about how nice they are. They're not going to go around bragging that they're the nicest person on the planet. They're just going to be nice.
You have to watch your back around a fake person, because it could have a knife stuck in it at any moment. And if you ask them to take it out, they'll say, "Of course!" with a smile on their face, but then drive it in deeper. When you're around fake people, take a page from The X Files. Trust no one.
9. Real People Tell You How They Feel To Your Face
You always know where you stand with a genuine person - for better or for worse, which somehow always ends up being for better. If you do something to upset a real person, they're going to call you on it and talk it out. You might not like what they have to say, but at least they're saying it, and that counts for something, right?
A fake person always has a hidden agenda for whatever they do. And it's probably something that's going to benefit them. Because - big shocker - someone who only has their self interest in mind is going to be doing things that are in their own self interest.
No good deed goes uncriticized when you're around a fake person. You literally can't even move without a fake person finding some fault in it. You didn't step on the right foot. Or your little pinky was in a "weird" position. There's no way to win with fake people. Unless the goal of the game is to rack up the most criticism against you.
A real person isn't going to sit around talking smack about a situation. They're going to try to figure out what went wrong and how they can fix it. A real person is going to learn from mistakes, not point fingers and place blame. Because they can admit when they're wrong, which is not always an easy thing to do.
Sometimes fake people have more in common with a Sally Speaks-a-lot than a real human person. Their mouths spews words, but they don't take any action. And you know they're probably just talking so they can hear the sound of their own voice, too.
Real people do what they say and say what they do. They know exactly what a dollar bill tastes like, because they put their money where their mouth is. And honestly, that's one of the most refreshing and rare things to find.
