With the release of The Last Jedi, it means that Adam Driver is a major part of our lives yet again. Many people first became aware of Driver thanks to his role of Adam Sackler on HBO's Girls. He's also appeared in InsideLlewyn Davis, Frances Ha, Lincoln and a whole lot more. So whether you like epic sci-fi movies or small indie films, there's a good chance you've spent at least a little bit of time enjoying the work of Adam Driver.
But while watching Adam Driver as Kylo Ren or one of his other characters, have you ever gotten the feeling that he seemed oddly familiar? As if you've seen him many times before, even though you knew you were seeing him for the first time? Well, there might just be an explanation for that.
A theory on Adam Driver's familiar look was presented on Twitter by comic book writer Mark Millar. He's one of the writers of the comics Kick-Ass, Old Man Logan, Civil War, and much more. But now people are paying attention to something of his that isn't a comic, but a photo.
On Twitter, Millar posted this photo which shows Adam Driver as Kylo Ren. But then it also has a face swap with Keanu Reeves, also playing Kylo Ren. And after seeing the photo and the face swap, the internet has gotten very, very confused.
Some people said they couldn't see any difference at all between the two photos. So now we know that Kylo Ren has the ability to steal the essence of Keanu Reeves. Just when you think you know Star Wars, they add a new wrinkle.
People were so confused that they thought it could be two pictures of Driver, or possibly two pictures of Reeves. And this person in particular was confused that they called Keanu "Keano." (Although we'd like to imagine that Mr. Reeves would be proud to be bestowed with this brand new nickname.)
Some people were staring at the image for several minutes. If productivity at your workplace was down significantly on December 19, now you know why. It's because all the employees were spending much of their work day trying to tell Adam Driver apart from Keanu.
This person pointed out that this whole thing could be a clue that we're in The Matrix. This would make sense, and this whole Adam/Keanu thing is just a glitch. Fortunately, one of them should be able to rescue us from The Matrix...but we're not sure which one.
And this person may have discovered a secret about Star Wars that the producers don't want you to know just yet. Is Keanu actually Kylo Ren's father? Hey, if Porgs can be a things that exists, then almost anything in Star Wars is possible.
In addition, if you think about it, the name Keanu is pretty odd. It sounds less like a name you would hear in the real world, and more like the name of...a character in Star Wars. Maybe Keanu Reeves has always been a fictional character in Star Wars, and we just didn't know it.
Some people questioned if the face swap was actually genuine after all. Maybe both faces are really composites of the two actors, instead of each face being kept in tact. Could this whole thing just been made up?
Unfortunately, we can't tell for sure whether or not the photo is a composite or an actual face swap. But either way, the faces are close enough that your mind should be officially blown. And if Hollywood ever wants to make Kylo Ren & Ted's Excellent Adventure, we're pretty sure nobody would be complaining.
