How would you feel if you spent every single day in a museum just looking at people looking at art. I'm sure that at first it would be exciting. People watching is always super fun and weird and interesting. But, after a while, with all the quiet and stillness, I could imagine that it could get a little boring.
Come on! We have all been bored at a museum before. Don't hate on me and just admit it. Well, this France-based photographer, Stefan Draschan, has no problem hanging in museums, day in and day out, just watching and waiting and stalking his subjects. He has kept himself entertained at different galleries by creating his own art projects from what he witnesses.
Projects like "People Touching Artworks" and "People Sleeping In Museums" have kept him busy while hanging out in several museums. This project, “People Matching Artworks” is so good, it is hard to believe that these pictures weren't staged. How did he capture such amazing photos? He was patient. Very, very patient while he sat and waited and waited and waited until he captured the perfect match. This here is clearly a perfect match.
Draschan visited many different museums in Paris, Vienna and Berlin. He would scope out the artwork and the visitors and wait to see if someone would match with a piece of the art. The results are really funny, and sometimes crazy. Some are so spot on that it is hard to accept that they aren't staged and were just a coincidence.
Like this guy here. This picture is so perfect, how could this not be staged? This guy literally looks like he popped out of that piece of art. This is like something out of a scene from the Sound Of Music! Friedrich, is that you?
Does the carpet match her drapes? Or the rug? Whatever. Apparently so. You never want to be told that your outfit matches the carpet but somehow this works. It's a good look for you, girl. You should keep it!
Okay, now I believe that these weren't staged. This couple is just so nonchalant and real that you can tell that it really is a perfect coincidence. Do you think that they know that they match this painting so perfectly? I wouldn't want to offend them and tell them myself.
This one makes me so happy. It's so cheery and bright and colorful! I would keep that painting in my home to lighten the mood at home, but I would also want to keep her in my home as well because she also seems cheery and fun! Is that creepy?
He knows. He knows that this is a picture of some distant relative of his, right there in that painting staring back at him. He must know. You can tell by how he is just staring in awe. It looks as if it has stopped him in his tracks.
Even her braids match this painting! See the reflections from the homes on the water? It is a perfect match. I could seriously look at this all day. It's so cool and so beautiful. I want to hang this picture on my walls because this is art.
And this is a double whammy. As if one match wasn't cool enough, this photographer captured two at a time. This guy is good. Or he just has way too much time on his hands. But we already discussed that.
Stripes on stripes on stripes on stripes on stripes on stripes. It's so abstract and open and light! Do you see what I mean? Oh, I was talking about her shirt, not the painting. But the painting is really cool too.
Sorry, I can't see the painting of the building because there is a building in my way. Oh, wait a minute, that's not a building! That's a person! Sorry, I couldn't tell the difference between the two. Where are my glasses?
If this woman was a painting, she would clearly be this painting. It's sharp and smart and clean and calm. Can't you see that she is the same. Well, I don't know about smart but...you're welcome lady, you are so very welcome, for turning you into a piece of art.
Okay, I know that this woman knew what she was doing when she got up and went to pick out an outfit. She did her research, she clearly looked at the artwork in the museum and picked the perfect dress. It's cool. We admire her effort.
