Idina Menzel is one of the biggest Broadway stars to ever grace the stage. She starred as Maureen in the show Rent, where she earned a Tony nomination. She also won a Tony for her performance as Elphaba in Wicked and also for the starring role in the show IF/Then in 2014.
But what made her a household name was her performance as Elsa in the Disney movie Frozen. After that movie premiered, kids and parents all over the world could not stop singing the hit single from the movie “Let It Go." We all know the words to “Let It Go," whether he have a child or not.
Saying that It would be an honor to sing with her onstage would be an understatement. A few weeks ago a little boy had that honor when he attended her concert in Grand Prairie, Texas. He not only held his own. He stole the show.
11-year-old Luke Chacko attended the concert on July 30. Little did he know that this concert would change his life. He also didn’t know that Idina was not the only star that would be performing that day.
At one point during the concert, Menzel invited a group of kids to come up onstage to sing “Let It Go” with her. She passed the microphone around and little girls sang with all their might. Then she noticed a little boy in the mix.
The audience was so impressed by the little boy that they couldn’t stop screaming. This time she asked the very excited audience to stop screaming so they could really hear him go. “Can you all just shut up for a minute and let him sing it again,” she said.
In an interview with E! News Luke said that singing with Menzel had always been a "dream" of his. "I practice all the time, so I was prepared but I certainly didn't expect that she would ever really ask me to come onstage and sing with her," he said.
And as if he didn’t love her already, Luke had even more reasons to love her. "Idina was very kind to my mom, my sister Halle and me," said Luke. "She made us all feel special, and she was really funny."
Luke has always been a huge fan of Idina. Recently he showed off his pipes at a local talent show. What did he sing? Menzel’s song from Wicked, “Defying Gravity." Of course he did!
15. Duet Album?
I think that this performance can be the beginning of a beautiful relationship. I’m talking a duet album, people! Hey, Idina and Luke! Why don’t you two take this show on the road? I’d pay good money to see that!
