Harry Potter is one of the greatest heroes in all of fiction. But where did he learn to be so brave and kind? From his parents, James and Lily Potter (maiden name, Evans).
The Potters had a long history at Hogwarts. In Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part II, we got a flashback sequence. In it, we got to see Harry's parents when they were very young.
The young version of Harry's mother was played by Ellie Darcey-Alden. She was only 11 when she was cast in the film. Obviously, this was a huge deal for her career.
It was a small role, but an important one and she was thrilled to do it. Just look at that excitement on her face. This is one of those behind-the-scenes photos that makes this movie even more magical.
Ellie is now 17 years old. I know, I can't believe it's already been six years since the film franchise ended. This is what Ellie looks like today.
She's still in the entertainment industry. She's worked in ads, as a model and a voice-over artist. She currently resides in Los Angeles.
Besides acting, Ellie also loves dance. She's a competitive ballet, jazz and contemporary dancer. She also loves dogs, but come on...who doesn't.
She landed another big role. This one was also in a beloved franchise. She was in the Doctor Who 2012 Christmas special The Snowmen, playing Francesca.
As you can see, she still has a bit of the ol' magic in her. It's nice to see when child stars grow up and still think fondly of the films they appeared in. They can go on to lead some fascinating lives.
And what about the young version of Harry's father? He was played by Alfie McIlwain. He landed this role when he was 13.
He was perfect for it. As you can see here, he has a certain charm to him. He looks like he could be the everyday man lead in any comedy.
That is, if he chose. He actually walked away from acting. Instead, he enjoys travel.
Here he is at 19 years old. This is a beach in Thailand. Honestly, this is way, way cooler than anything I ever did at 19. Happy to see he's enjoying his retirement from the entertainment industry.
Lastly, as a bonus, let's check in on Young Snape from that same film. There was no more tragic figure in all of the Harry Potter books. It started in his youth, all the way up to his alleged death.
Benedict Clarke played the role when he was 15. Here he is at 21 and... wow. Imagine if the real Snape matured looking like this. What is it about going through puberty as a Harry Potter fan?
