As an animal lover, Susie naturally takes photos of animals of all kinds. It's a good thing she loves them so much, because one wild animal has been visiting her house just about every day. And Susie's totally okay with it.
In the video, Susie says, "It's hilarious. This raccoon...steals the cat food, and when the bowl is empty, she gets a rock and knocks on my door." So there's actually some reasoning behind this behavior.
However, all that door knocking has its consequences. Susie said the door "is scratched all the way across here." However, seconds after pointing out the scratches, she says to Rocksy, "Are you the cutest thing in the world?" So a few scratches are no issue at all for Susie.
Susie explained that Rocksy is merely trying to get food for her young. "She's nursing," Susie said. "She has her babies just outside my yard. And I just want people to know that raccoons are wonderful."
Susie said she wants to clear up some myths about raccoons. "Just because you see a raccoon out in the day does not mean it has rabies," she said. "Usually it's a nursing mother raccoon who is out trying to get food for her babies.
Susie said she hopes to teach people more not just about raccoons, but animals in general. "I want people to learn about animals, to respect them and love them," she said. "We need to share our earth with our wildlife and try to be kinder."
Along those lines, Susie also volunteers for Wildlife, Inc. She said, " I want to give a shout out to Wildlife Education & Rehabilitation Center Inc. where I have volunteered for years! They have taught me so much about wildlife rescue. "
